DYBA Heads Into All Star Weekend

Six games scheduled for athletes from ages 7 through 14.

Deerfield will be awash with baseball Friday through Monday as the has its annual all star weekend with six contests for players eight through 14 years old.

The weekend is unique according DYBA Secretary Tom Shapira because it contains all star games which exclude athletes who play beyond the house league.

“The travel players are not eligible,” Shapira said. “The kids on each team choose the team’s two all star representatives based not only on ability, but just as importantly, sportsmanship and overall contributions as a good teammate.”

The weekend begins with a pair of games at 7 p.m. Friday at . The Bronco League contest for 11 and 12 year olds is on Field 2 and the Pony League game for boys 13 and 14 is on Diamond 1.

Three games are on tap Saturday with the Pinto softball game for 7 and 8 year old girls at 9 a.m. at with the Mustang 9 and 10 year old girls playing at 11:30 a.m. on the same field.

The Mustang League all star baseball game will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday at while the Pinto baseball players compete at 5 p.m. Monday at Woodland.
