Loyola Ends Warrior Hockey Season

Deerfield bows out of Blackhawk Cup on two Rambler power play goals.

Two power play goals by Loyola made the difference as the Ramblers ended Deerfield’s hopes of a third straight state championship, 3-1, Monday in Blackhawk Cup action at the Edge in Bensenville, according to information on the team’s website.

After winning the last two state titles in the White Division of high school hockey, the Warriors moved up to the elite Red Division hoping to make it three straight.

Warrior goalie Adam Serck kept the game close with 28 saves out of 29 shots during the first two periods. Loyola’s first two scores came on power plays—one in the second and another in the third period—and the third went into an empty net near the end of the game as Deerfield used an extra attacker in an effort to keep its season alive.

Deerfield’s lone goal came when they were shorthanded by a player. Spencer Delman slapped the puck in the net on an assist from Henry Beaudoin.

The Warriors finished the season 25-2-4, according to information on their website.
