VIDEO: Deerfield Clinches Win Over HP by One Point

Warriors overcome early 13 point deficit to win nail-biter and extend win streak to five games.

Final Score:  36 Highland Park 35

Records:  Deerfield (14-9, 6-3) Highland Park (9-13, 3-6)

Key Players:  Junior Alex Sacks came off the bench to lead Deerfield with 10 points.  He was the only Warrior in double figures.  Jack Carney scored seven, Sam Sternberg had six and Scott Fenton and Mack Watts each added five points.  For Highland Park, Ben Levine went 5-5 from three and finished with 15 points.  Jonny Stempel and Jake Norcia each scored seven for the Giants.

Key Stats: Highland Park started the game on a 13-0 run and Deerfield did not score until there was 1:00 left in the first quarter.  However, the Warriors went on a 13-1 run and went into hafltime trailing 14-13.  With Highland Park leading 31-27 with 3:05 left in the game, Deerfield went on a 6-0 run thanks to two three's from Scott Fenton and Josh Schur.  Schur spent most of the second half on the bench after picking up a technical foul early in the third quarter.  He made his presence felt when he got back on the floor, hitting the go-ahead three with 1:30 left in the game.

Quote of the night:  Deerfield Head Coach Bret Just on his team's confidence during five game winning streak - "There's that belief right now that we can do it.  Whether it's in the 30's or the 60's, we just find a way.  I don't know if two or three months ago we could have come back from that kind of deficit against this kind of defensive club.  It's a testament to how far these guys have grown up."
