Highland Park handed the Deerfield boys soccer team their first loss of the season two weeks ago in the championship game of the . On Tuesday, the Warriors (8-2, 1-0) handed the Giants (6-3, 0-1) their first conference loss of the season in a rematch of two of the top teams in the CSL North.
Highland Park's Andrew Chang gave the Giants an early lead, scoring just over three minutes into the game. However, Deerfield senior goalkeep Josh Norris would hold the Giants in check the rest of the game.
Deerfield tied the game when 's pass was deflected by Tristian Pennick into the Highland Park net for an own-goal. Jason Kayne provided the go-ahead goal for the Warriors in the 51st minute, as he knocked in his fourth goal of the year.
