VIDEO: Highland Park Tops Deerfield to Claim North Shore Shootout Tournament Title

Deerfield's Joey Calistri scores two goals, but Highland Park goalie Aaron Grinell comes up big in shootout to help Giants win first ever North Shore Shootout championship

It took Highland Park 12 years, but they finally captured the North Shore Shootout tournament title. The team topped rival 3-2, 4-2 on penalty kicks, in the title game Saturday at Lake Forest High School.

Highland Park senior goalkeeper Aaron Grinell was the biggest difference maker in the game, stopping several quality shots in regulation as well as making critical saves on two of four penalty penalty kicks.

"Aaron Grinell is just a great, great goalkeeper," said Highland Park sophomore Frankie Moore, who scored the Giants first goal. "We had so much confidence in him. Even in practice when we would be taking PK's, he would be saving everything."

The Giants battled back from one-goal deficits on two separate occasions and tied the game 2-2 in the 68th minute. Once in penalty kicks, Andrew Chang connected on the winning goal that gave Highland Park the title. 

For , senior Joey Calistri scored both goals and now has a team leading nine goals on the season.

The Giants improved to 3-1 on the season while Deerfield (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season.
