“Luol is just a really good dude and what he stands for everybody should stand for,” Bulls player Kyle Korver said about his teammate at the event. “He [Deng] uses this stage that he has for really good purposes.”
At the age of 5, Deng was a refugee when his parents fled to Egypt in eluding Sudan's civil war. The family eventually settled in Britain. Now that he’s an NBA star, the Northbrook resident is trying to give back. His foundation provides funding for sports and education programs for other refugees in Africa.
