VIDEO: Second Half Surge Not Enough as TIU Women Fall to St. Xavier
Lady Trojans give 6th ranked Cougars a scare with a huge second half rally
The Women's Basketball team cut a 20 point, second-half deficit down to two, but couldn't complete the comeback against St. Xavier Tuesday night, as the Cougars would hang on to win 79-71.
Trailing 49-29 after the first half, Trojan senior forward Reanna Perera led the second half comeback, scoring 17 of her game high 24 points after haltime. After knocking down her second straight three, Perera brought Trinity within two, 70-68, with 2:19 remaining in the game. However, St. Xavier would go on a 6-0 run over the next 45 seconds and take a 76-68 lead with just over a minute to play.
The Cougers, ranked 6th in the NAIA, built their early lead after shooting 53 percent in the first half and connecting on 62 percent of their three pointers. At the same time, TIU went 12-40 from the field. Trojan senior guard Melanie Duplessis had 15 first half points to help keep Trinity in the game.

Shalonda Young led the Cougars with 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Marissa Young 21 points. St. Xavier improved to 4-1 while TIU fell to 3-5 on the season.
