Warrior Boys Fall to Powerhouse Warren

Deerfield High School basketball team drops close contest to highly regarded Blue Devils.

Coming off a dominating performance against Township District 113 Rival Highland Park Friday, Deerfield High School’s boys’ basketball team fell to North Suburban Conference power Warren, 53-49, Saturday in Deerfield.

An 18-point first quarter propelled the Warriors to an 18-14 lead and they carried that margin into the intermission with a 30-26 edge. Warren came out solid after halftime with a 17-point run to grab a 43-40 edge after the third quarter.

Three Warriors scored in double figures as Eric Porter led the way with 14 points while Michael
Alfieri and Stefanos Fasianos added 10 each.

Alfieri also grabbed three rebounds and dished out a trio of assists while Porter had a pair of rebounds and two assists. Fasianos stole the ball twice to go with a rebound, assist and block. Jack Lieb hauled down nine boards along with two points and steal.

Deerfield is now 13-5 for the season and returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Friday when it entertains Niles North. The Warriors currently share first place in league play with Highland Park.
