Warrior Wrestlers Breeze to 6th Straight League Title

Deerfield High School wrestling team wins 11 of 14 matches to secure sixth consecutive Central Suburban League North Division championship.

Winning 11 of 14 matches, the Deerfield High School wrestling team dominated Maine West, 57-12, Friday in Park Ridge for its sixth consecutive Central Suburban League North Division championship.

Ranked 12th among teams in Illinois, the Warriors finished the conference season 5-0 ending Maine West’s perfect league campaign. Deerfield is 19-1 overall. The Warriors notched six pins against Maine West, won two matches by technical fall, took two major decisions and a decision.

Pinning their opponents were Colton Emmerich (220), Chris Moran (195), T.J. Thompson (182), Jack Powen (160), Brady Glantz (145) and Joey Bloom (120).

Kyle Clough (106) won his match by a technical fall as did Sage Heller (138). Major decisions went to Brian Spinello (126) and Andrew Mehrholtz (132). Nick Kupets defeated his opponent, 4-3.

Deerfield competes in the league meet Friday and Saturday at Niles North in Skokie before heading into the qualifying process for the State Tournament.
