Warriors Blank Regina in Soccer Regional

Top seeded Deerfield High School soccer team plays for regional title Friday.

A stifling defense and the right amount of offense made the difference as the top seeded Deerfield High School soccer team set a school record defeating Regina Dominican High School, 2-0, Tuesday at Adams Field.

The Warrior defense prevented the Panthers from even getting a shot at goalies Sarah Ginn and Sam Soloway. The pair recorded a shutout without a save thanks to the defense.

Samara Haas put Deerfield on the board 2:15 into the game when she got a pass from Margot Sylvan and shot the ball 35 yards into the net over the goal keeper’s head, according to Coach Rich Grady.

Haas had a hand in Warriors’ other goal as well when she sent the ball to Logan Just who moved it to the end line before centering it to Emily Kellow. Kellow scored her team leading 10th tally of the season on a header, according to Grady.
