Winnetka’s Conor Dwyer will be making his first Olympic appearance when he competes in men’s swimming at the London Olympics. The Loyola Academy graduate and Lake Forest Swim Club member will be competing in the 400 freestyle and will be part of the 800-relay team along with Charlie Houchin, Ryan Lochte, Matt McLean, Michael Phelps and Davis Tarwater.
Dwyer will compete in the 400 freestyle preliminary heats Saturday at 10:50 a.m. London time or 4:50 a.m. Chicago team. The top eight swimmers from all the heats will move to the finals later Saturday at 7:49 p.m. in London or 1:49 p.m. here.
Dwyer may also been seen as part of the 4x200 freestyle relay team. The qualification heats for that race are at 11:02 a.m. Tuesday in London and 5:02 a.m. here. The finals are scheduled for the same day at 10:47 p.m. in London and 4:47 p.m. in Chicago.
Dwyer can be seen streamed live on Comcast for all of his competition. The swimming finals for each event will also be broadcast live on NBC (WMAQ TV, Ch. 5 in Chicago).
