DYBA's T-Ball Program: The Gateway to the Game of Baseball

The summer season is well under way for the pre-school and kindergarten boys playing T-Ball in the highly regarded and tremendously successful Deerfield Youth Baseball Association program.

While the primary goal is for the kids to have fun, what really sets the DYBA program apart from many others is its focus on preparing kids for future successes on and off the baseball field.  The DYBA boys practice using a rotation of fun and interactive drills designed to hold their attention over a 5-8 minute period; then they rotate to another drill.  During games, many real rules of baseball are used in an effort to teach the most fundamental skills of the game.  Within a fun, often silly and zero-pressure environment, DYBA stresses concepts important to those learning the game such as hustling, playing a position, teamwork, learning from mistakes and recognizing that making an out is not a failure but just a part of the game.
