Breathe Deep North Shore Yogathon & Walk/Run Registration Underway

The North Shore community is rallying around two local events that will raise awareness and funds for LUNGevity Foundation and critical lung cancer research.

Coming off of an incredible fundraising effort by Deerfield High School in December, the North Shore community is showing they are committed to supporting LUNGevity Foundation for the long term. Dedicated volunteers are planning two exciting events.

The Breathe Deep Yogathon is a new LUNGevity event that will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013, from 8am to 6pm at Illinois Bone & Joint Institute in Highland Park. The event will offer six classes, each featuring a different yoga style, taught by local well-known instructors. Massages, Reiki treatments, and refreshments will also be provided, and the day will end with an inspirational and healing gong bath. For more event information, to register, or to make a donation, visit www.lungevity.org/yogathon.

Breathe Deep North Shore (formerly Breathe Deep Deerfield), a 5K fun run, one-mile walk, and balloon launch, will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 9:30am at Deerfield High School. The event will also include games and activities for kids as well as the music of HYPE Productions. Refreshments will be served, and prizes will be awarded for top fundraising teams and individuals. Last year’s inaugural event far exceeded expectations with over 1,300 participants and $140,000 raised. This event is about uniting as a community in support of LUNGevity and giving those who have been devastated by lung cancer a place to share, hope, and heal.

Breathe Deep North Shore will pay tribute to those in our community who have lost their fight with, or are fighting, lung cancer. Event participants may submit names to northshore@lungevity.org for display on the Breathe Deep North Shore website and event day banner.

We are very excited to have many new Breathe Deep North Shore supporters this year. Whole Foods Market Deerfield is a Platinum sponsor, and on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 they will hold a 5% community support day benefitting LUNGevity Foundation and this event. Other Platinum sponsors include NorthShore University HealthSytem, AMLI Residential and Running Away Multisport. Astellas Pharma US is currently our event’s top sponsor at the Presenting level. Numerous other businesses are generously supporting Breathe Deep North Shore at other sponsorship levels. Their logos appear on our event website.  Sponsorship opportunities are still available.

For more information, to view a promotional video, to register, or to make a donation to Breathe Deep North Shore, visit www.lungevity.org/northshore. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities and benefits, contact northshore@lungevity.org.

There is nothing historical about this house. The historical house was torn down in order to buildRead More a modern house which vaguely resembles the home that was owned by Lyman Wilmot. But calling this new construction "an important part of the history of Deerfield" is a travesty.

Mara, So sorry you feel this way. We feel that this really improves the neighborhood. Tried toRead More keep much of old structure, but Igor's rehab and lack of upkeep, made it impossible. couldn't even keep floors, all warped from water and walls full of mold. City did nothing to stop Igor from combining two distinct properties. I am having a champagne lunch Wed. June 19, 11:30 to 1:30. Would love for you to come and see the house. Maybe that will change your mind. Annette Kalcheim

Annette - my first statement was "beautiful house" so I have no qualms with your outcome -Read More however, this is a re-do, re-creation not the original house. But good luck! I am sure you will find a buyer quickly!
