FAFSA Computer Calculation Problem!!!

It appears that the Federal government has another glitch on its hands. Parents and students who file the FAFSA financial aid forms and have family incomes below $50,000 usually would have an Expected Family Contribution anywhere from zero to $3400.00 but due to a problem within the government website-fafsa.ed.gov calculations are in many cases double what they should be. I called FAFSA a few weeks ago and was told that no problem exists. I then followed up last week with FAFSA and was told that they are aware of the problem but what will this mean for students. We are suggesting to our clients to call the colleges directly and make them aware of this situation and ask them how they will be dealing with it.
