Deerfield Pitches in to Stuff Back to School Backpacks

46 backpacks dropped off at West Deerfield Township Food Pantry for residents in need.

Dozens of local students are going to be heading back to school in style thanks to Cheryl Hart and her team of volunteers.

The Deerfield resident recently organized a back to school backpack drive that stuffed 34 backpacks for kids between K-8 and another 12 for high school students.

The backpacks included school supplies but also other hot items like free haircuts, tutoring assistance and gift cards.

The backpacks will now be distributed by the West Deerfield Township Food Pantry which runs a year-round food pantry for needy residents.
