Library, Whole Foods Enrich Deerfield’s Week

Adult education, high school sports gear up after school opens.

With the kids safely back in school and hopefully all of those shopping needs under everyone’s belt, it’s time for the grownups to do a little learning of their own.

Library Offers Programs This Week

Novelist Maggie Shipstead, whose initial book “Seating Arrangements” has already received good reviews from the New York Times and other publications, will discuss the book at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield Public Library. Thanks to the help of the Lake Forest Book Store, people can buy a copy and have it signed.

If you are looking for a different flavor at the library, there will be a class on keeping your computer safe while surfing the Internet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Back to school events are not over yet. Deerfield students can stop by Whole Foods between 4 and 6 p.m. Monday to get tips on a healthy lunch box and a free gift.

Would you like to get yourself into a pickle in a good way? You can do that at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Whole Foods by taking a pickling class.

Congregational Church Has Class for Kindergartners

And, back to school is definitely not done. There is still time to register for the Extraordinary Kids Kindergarten Enrichment program at Deerfield’s Congregational Church.

Deerfield High School’s fall sports teams are getting into action this week with boys’ golf, girls’ golf, soccer, tennis, field hockey and football all scheduled to play.
