Optimist Christmas Tree Lot Opens Friday

Community joins together to benefit Deerfield youth while selling Christmas trees.

Black Friday means shopping for many but in Deerfield it is also the opening of the Optimist Christmas Tree lot at Jewett Park, a 60-year Village tradition.

The lot will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 3 to 9 p.m. on Fridays and between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The balsam, Fraser and Canaan fir trees come in a variety of sizes.

Before sales begin, the Deerfield High School wrestling team will help set things up as has been its tradition over the years while the soccer and tennis teams will get in the act with sales.
