Animals Displaced by Bus Crash at Shelter Need Homes

Seventy-five animals arriving at the shelter this weekend need a home. The shelter is uninhabitable after a runaway bus plowed into it Wednesday.

Wright-Way Animal Shelter in Niles will hold an adoption fair this weekend in its parking lot to find homes for the 75 animals it is no longer able to house after a run away bus crashed into it Wednesday.

No people or animals were hurt in the crash. The bus driver and another woman on the bus were treated and released at a hospital, Niles police said Wednesday. And the 25 pets in the shelter at the time are in a temporary facility until Wright-Way can stabilize its situation.

But Wright-Way had originally said it would not be able to accept  75 animals due to arrive this weekend. Because Wright-Way takes animals from southern Illinois that would likely otherwise be euthanized, the animals might not have survived.

However, Wright-Way just announced via its Facebook page that it will accept the animals and have an adoption fair in its parking lot this weekend.

It posted:

"Wright-Way Rescue is hosting an Adoption Event and Donation Event this weekend. The 75+ animals from southern Illinois will be arriving to Chicago tomorrow. The event will be located in a tent at the Wright-Way Rescue Adoption Center parking lot. We will be holding adoptions this weekend during the following times:

Friday, October 4th from 3:00-8:00
Saturday, October 5th from 11:00-5:00
Sunday, October 6th from 11:00-5:00

If you are wanting to adopt this weekend, please wait to fill out an application until the adoption event."

It also posted 31 photos of the available animals on its
