Winter Celebration Tops Deerfield’s Weekend

Sleigh rides, petting zoo, model trains, Santa Claus and more await visitors to downtown Deerfield Friday and Saturday.

Winter Celebration Set Friday and Saturday

Deerfield’s annual Winter Celebration will offer plenty of activities for family fun and more Friday and Saturday in downtown Deerfield.

There will be food and music at Village Hall from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday as well as horse-drawn sleigh rides to and from the Historic Village. Santa Claus will be posing for everyone’s photo opportunities at Koenig & Strey then as well as Saturday.

On Saturday, Deerfield Square and Deerfield Town Centre will be abuzz with a petting zoo, pony rides and a variety of treats. The best way to get from one shopping center to the other will be on a horse pulled sleigh. A complete list of activities is located on the Village’s website.

Book Signings and Model Trains Offer Indoor activities

When you are trying to escape from the outdoor chill Saturday, the Deerfield Public Library will have a model train exhibit. Deerfield’s own children’s author, Susan Wolff, will be signing copies of her book, “Quackers Wants to Fly,” between 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday at Barnes and Noble as part of the Wilmot Elementary School Book Fair.

Deerfield High School Kicks Off School Chest with 5K

For those who want an early start, Deerfield High School will kick off its public School Chest activities with the 5K Run 4Change benefitting the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association (GLASA) at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Adams Field. Register on line or show up at 9 a.m. to do it Saturday.
