Man Killed in 3-Car Tollway Crash in Deerfield

Cesar Salas, 39, of Prairie View, was pronounced dead following a three-car crash on I-294 near Lake County Road in Deerfield.

A Vernon Township man was killed following a three-car collision at about 6:45 a.m. Sunday on I-294 near Lake Cook Road in Deerfield. Police are trying to determine what caused the death of Cesar Salas, 39, of Prairie View, who rear-ended a tow truck, reported the Daily Herald. Get local news in a daily email from Patch. The taxi then struck the tow truck driver who was standing in the road. He did not sustain life-threatening injuries, reported the Chicago Tribune, which has a photo of the taxi. Boating Tragedy Hits Close to Home

Morrison's nephew, Tony Borcia, 10, was tubing when he was struck by a boat on Chain of Lakes.

A Chain of Lakes boating accident hit close to home Saturday. The 10-year-old victim is the nephew of West Deerfield Township Supervisor Julie Morrison. According to the Chicago Tribune, 10-year-old Tony Borcia of Libertyville fell off of an inner tube and was then struck by a boat. The incident happened on Petite Lake, which is off of Route 59, around 4:40 p.m. the Chicago Tribune reports.  For Morrison, this was deeply personal.
