Bannockburn police have a warrant out for a Chicago woman for medicine theft
Bannockburn police put out a warrant arrest this week for Donna L. Koss-Burris, 41, of the 1700 block of North Kedzie in Chicago, in connection with one count of retail theft and one count of theft at a local Walgreens, according to police. At 1:35 p.m. Aug. 25, police responded to a call from an employee of Walgreens, at 2501 Waukegan Road, about a suspicious situation at the store, police said. In a car in the Walgreens' parking lot, police found about $3,900 worth of over-the-counter cold medicine and $1,900 in cash that allegedly belonged to Koss-Burris. Her relatives who were in the parking lot said the medication and cash were Koss-Burris' property, police said.

Randell Briem, 29, of Highwood was arrested for speeding, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving under the influence and illegally transporting open alcohol Sept. 1 at Half Day and Waukegan Roads, according to a Bannockburn police report. Briem was observed travelling eastbound on Half Day Road at 12:45 a.m., driving 59 mph in a 40 mph zone. Bannockburn police stopped Briem's vehicle, and observed a strong alcohol odor. After unsuccessfully performing field sobriety tests, the officer determined Briem was likely intoxicated. She refused a breathalyzer test and was taken into custody and placed in the back of the squad car. Lake Forest man survives with minor injuries after turning onto rebuilt part of roadway.
(Update, 11 a.m. Wednesday) A Lake Forest man partially confused by construction at the intersection of Half Day and Waukegan Roads was the victim who escaped a collision with a northbound Metra Train Tuesday with minor injuries, according to the Lake County News-Sun . Michael Bungert, 57, was driving his 2010 GMC Terrain southbound on Waukegan Road at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday and attempted to make a right turn onto westbound Half Day Road, according to the News-Sun. The intersection is under heavy construction. Bungert told Bannockburn police he turned in between two barrels where there was space for a car to proceed through, even though there was a solid white line. After using the northbound lane to go south on Waukegan from Half Day Rd for MONTHS, I almost had a head on collision when there was no sign announcing that the southbound lanes had reopened. It is a miracle the man walked away unharmed. Just finish already....   more ›
