When a group organizes in the parking lot of the office of a member of Congress, they often do it as a prelude to protest. Though that is not what happened when 35 people from Organizing for Action arrived at Rep. Brad Schneider’s (D-Deerfield) open house Wednesday officially inaugurating his Lincolnshire District office, Chief of Staff Reed Adamson was uncertain about their purpose. Local members of the Congress voted differently today as the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution to fund the government through September but stood up together to oppose a Republican drafted budget. When more than 200 10th Congressional District citizens descended on Washington along with 13,000 others for the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac) Policy Conference Sunday through Tuesday, Rep. With automatic spending cuts totaling $1.2 trillion over the next 10 years set to go into effect Friday, Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Deerfield) and Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Evanston) took to the floor of the House of Representatives Tuesday to urge action.
