Domestic Battery Danilo Rentuma, 44, of Deerfield was arrested Dec. 16 for domestic battery after it was reported he slapped and choked his girlfriend at the Red Roof Inn, according to Deerfield Police reports. After police received a complaint from guests in nearby rooms at the motel about the disturbance and arrived at Rentuma’s room, he said there was nothing wrong, according to the report. The victim told a different story. According to the report, the Rentuma slapped and choked the victim as well as calling her a whore. Child Endangerment Yijing Luo, 39, of Deerfield was arrested Dec. 19 for child endangerment after police found his young son outside near the family home barefoot without a coat in 34-degree temperatures, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police received a call informing them the child was outside the home at 1665 Macie Court with neither a coat nor shoes at 7:42 a.m. Dec. 19, according to the report. Police found no one at house but located siblings at Wilmot Elementary School. After talking to school officials and a sibling, police were able to determine the child lived with his father, stepmother and siblings at the home, according to the report. Possession of Cannabis Samuel Heller, 26, of Chicago was arrested Dec. 2 for possession of cannabis and failure to signal a turn, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police were notified of a potentially intoxicated driver at a local restaurant, located the person and his vehicle and stopped him for failing to use a turn signal, according to the report. The person turned out to be Heller. Though Heller passed field sobriety tests and had a zero blood alcohol level, he admitted to having a “small amount of weed” when questioned by police, according to the report. Possession of Cannabis With Intent to Sell Matthew Connolly, 22, of Libertyville was arrested Wednesday on two felony counts of possession of cannabis, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Bannockburn Police reports. Acting on a message of a potential armed robbery suspect in the area, police stopped a car matching the description in the vicinity of Waukegan and Half Day Roads, according to the report. Though Connolly did not match the description of the armed robbery suspect, police smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. DUI Darlene Lee Ann Carter, 46, of Deerfield was arrested Oct. 18 for driving under the influence, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police spotted Carter driving westbound on Longfellow Ave. at 1:10 a.m. with no lights illuminated and stopped her after she turned northbound onto Waukegan Road, according to the report. Carter was chewing gum and the officer smelled a “feint odor of alcohol.” Carter failed three field sobriety tests and registered a .094 blood alcohol level during a field breath test, according to the report. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 14. Gregory Smolucha, 22, of Lincolnshire was arrested June 29 for DUI (drugs) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Bannockburn Police reports. Police spotted Smolucha turning out of the Bannockburn Greet Shopping Center onto Half Day Road without signaling, according to the report. When approaching Smolucha sitting in the car, the officer smelled burnt cannabis. Smolucha’s eyes were also red and bloodshot. After searching Smolucha’s person and the vehicle, the officer found glass smoking pipes and “rolling papers with cannabis residue.” Smolucha was released on his own recognizance and will appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. July 25 in Waukegan.
