For once, it doesn't much matter what School Board candidates think or promise regarding a key issue like the District 113 tax referendum. That’s because the referendum will be decided directly by the voters themselves. Whether the referendum passes or fails, we need the very best and brightest individuals on the School Board to responsibly manage the District 113 educational system and resources -- whatever those resources will be. Board members will be tasked with implementing the voters’ decision -- no matter what the results will be. Deerfield voters back Benton, Jester, Seiden for re-election at town meeting.
Voters decided Thursday night to nominate Bob Benton, Tom Jester and Bill Seiden as Deerfield Village Caucus Party candidates for the upcoming general election. The three are currently Deerfield village trustees whose seats are up. They are all running for the same positions in 2011. The vote took place at a town meeting Thursday night where residents got to hear from each candidate. "I think I'd do a nice job if I could continue," Bob Benton said. "I would look forward to an opportunity for another four years," Tom Jester added. "We're a community, I love Deerfield, I love all of you," Bill Seiden told the audience at Caruso Middle School.
