Village Board Takes Closer Look at Deerbrook

Cilento Photography gets approval.

A discussion of the Deerfield’s involvement with the redevelopment of Deerbrook Mall was postponed at Monday’s Village Board of Trustees meeting to give the parties more time to work on the details of the transaction. In other business, final approval was given to Cilento Photography to open its studio in Deerfield as well as the installation of a four-way stop sign at the intersection of Osterman and Robert York Avenues. Good for delay of Deerbrook deal, I hope the board is serious about getting and not giving. The stop sign Is a bad deal, not necessary. There is a lot of Red Tape to try to open business in Deerfield. The various forms and meetings and approvals associated with opening a portrait studio absurd.   more ›

Board Postpones Deerbrook Discussion

Presentation on renovation of mall is not listed on agenda for today’s Village Board meeting.

A discussion about the future of the Deerbrook Mall including special sales tax provisions is not on the agenda for today’s Deerfield Board of Trustees meeting, according to the agenda posted on Village website. After an initial presentation by shopping center owner Gateway Fairview at the June 18 meeting ran into opposition from Trustees Alan Farkas and William Seiden, the Board decided to wait until its July 2 gathering at the urging of Mayor Harriet Rosenthal. Deerfield Studio To Be a First in Illinois

Cilento Photography will arrive in Deerfield Square in autumn.

Deerfield’s newest business, Cilento Photography, found a home in the Village more than two years ahead of its scheduled opening in Deerfield Square this autumn. The company, currently operating as Flash Digital Photography in Northbrook, came upon Deerfield’s Historic Village two years ago in its constant search for the right settings for its portrait photography of families and individuals. “It’s a great place for kids,” Cilento Photography Assistant Manager Samantha Wade said. “We can use the old buildings as backdrops. They’re so well maintained. I love the way children react to them.” The company has been taking photographs of families and individuals in the Historic Village ever since.
