Hymen and Small selected to join board as new members.
Voters reelected two Township High School District 113 School Board members and chose two new ones Tuesday who favored the $133 million capital improvement plan those same voters heavily rejected. Two of those new members—David Small and incumbent Marjie Sandlow of Highland Park—have already accepted the challenge. Michael Smith of Deerfield was also reelected while Debra Hymen of Highland Park was chosen for a new term. They emerged victorious in a field of 10 candidates. Candidates Corinne Bronson-Adatto, David Greenberg, Debra Hymen, Carl Lambrecht, Mark Mulert, Marjie Rosen Sandlow, David Small, Michael Smith and Steven Narrod answered questions about fiscal responsibility, school consolidation, the pension scandal, the role of a board member and their credentials for election during an hourlong debate on March 6. The 10th candidate, Matilda Manfredini, was not present. George Pierachi made a statement on her behalf but was not able to …

Congratulations to Marjie Sandlow, David Small, Michael Smith and Debra Hymen. The people of Deerfield and Highland Park have elected qualified, dedicated individuals to represent District 113. They, and the other members of the board will have a lot of hard work ahead, which I have no doubt will be tackled with the professionalism that they have always exhibited.   more ›
