Deerfield’s Gold 35th at State Cross Country

Warrior runner improves his time 27 seconds in a week.

Deerfield High School’s Alex Gold shaved nearly 30 seconds off his time in just a week to finish 35th in the Illinois 3A Cross Country Meet today in Peoria.  Gold crossed the finish line in a time of 15:09 keeping a 5:03 pace over the three-mile course. Just a week ago Gold placed 19th in the Schaumberg Sectional with a 15:36 clocking.  Since Gold was the only Warrior in the meet Deerfield was not eligible for the team title. Palatine took the crown with 114 points.  New Trier’s Leland Later won the individual championship with a time of 14:17. Gold was the second highest finisher from the Central Suburban League and the best from the conference’s North Division.
