William Spellberg, 82, of Deerfield died today. He was the beloved husband of the late Susanne and the devoted father of Dr. David (Elisabeth Caplan), Philip (Dianne Leland), and Alan (Audra Kaplan). He was also the loving grandfather of Sean, Jordyn, Leah, Claire, Jack, Joseph, Helen and Nathan. Spellberg was also the dear brother of Richard (Carole) and Norman and the cherished brother-in-law of Judith and Jerold Fink. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd., in Skokie with burial at Westlawn Cemetery in Norridge. William “Bill” Newman, 61 of Deerfield died Friday in hospice care after a brief illness. Newman leaves behind family and friends including his wife, Ann, sons Matthew and Michael and his mother Polly. His father was the late Charles Newman. He is also survived by his brothers Allan (Diane) and David (Naomi), and in-laws Violet, Dan, Mark, Mary Jo, Jean, Tom, Chris, Tony, Joy, Kathy and Jim as well as many nephews and nieces. Newman worked for many years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor helping the disabled. He was an avid tennis player and golfer.
