What I Love About Thanksgiving

It’s all about being together.

Thanksgiving is a great, very American holiday. Most of my family looks forward to the turkey, stuffing, and potatoes. The holiday is the perfect excuse to eat until you can’t eat anymore because calories don’t really count on Thanksgiving, right? But not me. The food is really not what Thanksgiving is about for me-at least not anymore. Although, I don’t think I was ever a lover of turkey or pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving to me is about family and friends. And taking the day, or hopefully days to slow down, be together, enjoy each other without pressures of work, school, homework, meetings or anything.  We do not typically travel anywhere for Thanksgiving, which I enjoy. The kids are off school the majority of the Thanksgiving week so we can go…

Say 'Thanks' on Patch this Holiday Season

Did you know you could say "thank you" on Patch?  That's right: the announcements' section of this site has a subcategory meant for all those "thank you’s" out there. The announcements post directly to our site. With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, a "thank you" announcement could be a great and easy way to show gratitude this holiday season. It's also a great outlet to allow your child to share his or her thoughts and to thank someone who has made a difference in his or her life.  All you need to do is log in to the site and hover over the news tab at the top of the home page and then click on "announcements." From there you can choose "add an announcement" and under category, select "thank you."  If we get an influx of "thank you" …
