Poor-shooting second half dooms Glenbrook North in a 56-49 loss to Deerfield.
Two weeks in a row Glenbrook North has surrendered a big run to start the second half and as a result the Spartans have consecutive losses for the first time this season. Deerfield won 56-49 Friday night in Northbrook after trailing by five at halftime. Mack Watts led the Warriors with 17 points, but didn’t score in the fourth quarter. John Carney and Sam Sternberg picked up the slack, scoring all of Deerfield’s 12 points in the quarter to seal the win. Carney scored 16 and Sternberg added 14. “That was fun,” Deerfield coach Bret Just said. “It’s not often you come into this place and walk out feeling happy.
