Beware: The Heat is Here

Temperatures expected to reach upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday.

With heat index values predicted as high as 105 degrees Wednesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an excessive heat watch for Lake County in effect from Wednesday morning through Thursday night. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s during Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, while oppressive humidity will only make the heat index higher, according to the NWS. Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioned rooms, keep out of the sun and check on relatives or neighbors. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, air-conditioning is the best protective factor against heat-related illnesses and death.
