Caruso Clowns Around for a Good Cause

Students organize a school fundraiser to support children with special needs.

"Controlled chaos," is how Caruso teacher Julie Witczak described the middle school's events this week. For the past three mornings students and staff have stepped out of the classroom for a school wide carnival. The front entrance was flanked with a snow cone machine and cotton candy booth. Further down stood a pie throwing stand and a fondue maker. Around one hallway students hula-hooped. Around another, they listened to music and sold cupcakes. The carnival is just one example of how Caruso plans to raise money for its winter fundraiser. The school teamed up with Caring Clowns International, a non-profit organization that supports charities that help children.
