Deerfield High School sophomore diver started thinking about the future right after fourth place finish at State Meet.
Minutes after the fourth-place medal was placed around his neck for his diving efforts at the State Meet Saturday in Winnetka, Deerfield High School’s Sean Scary was already pondering next year. A sophomore, Scary was thinking about improving his performance and returning in 2014 and 2105 to continue a Warrior tradition on the one-meter springboard. Being part of a line of Deerfield state champion is a hope he holds. An up and down afternoon finished very well for Deerfield High School Diver Sean Scarry today at the New Trier High School pool in Winnetka. Scarry took a fourth place medal in the State Swimming and Diving Meet after entering the final round in third place, dropping to fifth and climbing back into fourth. Earlier: Warrior Diver Scarry Qualifies for Medal at State Meet After entering the day with 318.1 points after eight dives on Friday, Scarry was in third place six points out of second with a number of athletes close behind. Deerfield High School diver Sean Scarry currently sits in third place after the preliminary rounds of the State Meet today at New Trier High School in Winnetka. A state championship is within his grasp. Scarry accumulated 318.1 points during his dives today. He carries those points with him into Saturday’s finals at 1 p.m. Earlier: Warrior Divers Take Varied Paths for State Medal Quest Brandis Heffner of University High in Normal is currently in first place with 325.75 points followed by Marian’ Joey Cifelli at 324.65. Scarry has some ground to make up to continue a Deerfield tradition of state champions but is guaranteed a medal.
