Jump into the Service Pool

Do you love the Deerfield Park District pools? Why not serve on the pool advisory committee?

Come on in, the water's fine! The Deerfield Park District seeks individuals to serve on the Pool Advisory Committee for the coming year. This committee consists of district residents appointed by the park board. Committee members will study all phases of facility operations and will act in an advisory capacity to the park board. Areas of study will include such issues as additional means of utilizing the pools, new program ideas that could be beneficial to the overall program, methods of generating alternate sources of revenue, means of maximizing attendance, suggested capital improvements, etc. Interested residents can call Rick Julison, Executive Director of Parks and Recreation at the Deerfield Park District, at (847) 945-0650. …

Youth Programs Offered by Deerfield Park District

Child care, magic and piano lessons are a few of the spring classes offered to youth at Jewett Park Community Center in Deerfield.

Here are some upcoming spring programs offered by the Deerfield Park District focusing on creativity, artistic and other special talents. All classes listed below are at Jewett Park Community Center, 836 Jewett Park Drive. For more information, visit www.deerfieldparks.org. Babysitting Clinic Taught by Colleen Mazzetta, this clinic teaches boys and girls age 11-14 to prepare for the responsibilities of babysitting and child care. Course covers first aid, safety in the home, handling an emergency, the needs of the children, recreation and craft ideas, and infant care. Dates: Saturday, April 13 and 20 and May 11 and 18. New Spring Programs for Tots at Deerfield Park District

Register your children ages 5 and under in new spring activities through the Deerfield Park District including a Spanish language learning class and an outdoor gardening program.

Deerfield Park District Early Childhood is offering new spring classes for children age 5 and under at Jewett Park Community Center. Mom and Tot Gym Drop In (Activity #320001-Sect. 01) is geared for children between the ages of 1 and 3.5 years of age (other age children may be brought along). The program runs Tuesdays, April 9-May 21, from 9:15-11:15 a.m.. Cost is $2 per child/per time, which may be paid on a day-by-day use basis. This staff-supervised activity offers a chance for parents (or childcare providers) to interact while the children play. Ceramics Offered for Youngsters at Jewett

Children of all experience ranges can participate.

The Deerfield Park District will sponsor a four-day Ceramics Fest! Ceramics Fest! for youngsters from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., March 26 through March 29 in the Jewett Park Community Center. Students will learn how to paint, build and improve their skills as young ceramic artists with any and all experience levels. Ceramics instructor Richard Cohen will instruct the class to create one or two projects that the children are interested in building. Students will take home projects they created. The fee is $90.
