Warrior Duo Puts NU in NCAA Sweet 16

Calistri scores winning goal for Wildcats.

Former Deerfield High School soccer players Joey Calistri and Scott Lakin teamed up to lead Northwestern University to a 1-0 victory over Marquette Sunday in Milwaukee to put the Wildcats in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune. Lakin, a 2010 Warrior graduate, rebounded a free kick as Calistri, a freshman, put a one touch shot into the upper right corner of the goal giving Northwestern the game’s only score in the 31st minute, according to the Tribune story. Calistri Makes it Big at Northwestern

Former DHS soccer star continues his effort as leading scorer for the undefeated Wildcats.

When Joey Calistri was a four-year starter on the Deerfield High School boys’ soccer team, he became the most prolific scorer in Warrior history before signing a letter of intent to play for Northwestern University this year. Calistri has started off with a bang. With four goals, he is the leading scorer for the Wildcats, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune. He has become a primary player for Northwestern’s undefeated defending Big Ten champions. The squad is ranked 17th in the country.
