Deerfield Boy Scout Troop 50 Earns Highest Award

Boy Scout Troop 50 in Deerfield has been awarded the Gold Level Award.

Boy Scout Troop 50, based at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Deerfield, has received the highest award given from the Boy Scouts of America on scouting’s Journey to Excellence. The troop has achieved the Gold Level Award in recognition of its outstanding leadership, high level of scout participation and retention, parent involvement, and commitment to the standards and ideals of scouting. This award demonstrates outstanding quality and success for a troop, and it is given to only a small fraction of Boy Scout troops nationally each year. Boy Scout Troop 50 was founded in 1957, and has produced 103 Eagle Scouts, over 10 percent of the troop’s total membership, in its 56 years.
