The public will soon be able to remotely access basic Lake County court information free of charge from a computer, providing them with greater ease of use and efficiency. Circuit Court Clerk Keith S. Brin recently made a presentation to the Lake County Board on the new E-filing program, which includes public access and electronic filing. The county board approved about $1 million for the project, which is funded with court fees. The new system creates a seamless, efficient, user-friendly connection between the courts and those utilizing the courts. Employees at the Lake County Circuit Court Clerk's Office hit the panic button Wednesday when an Evanston man caused a disturbance by refusing to provide his ID while attempting to file paperwork. Lee Fainman, 37, of the 1300 block of Oak in Evanston, was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff's Office at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct, according to a sheriff's department press release. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Court Security Division received a panic alarm from the Circuit Clerks Office located at 18 N County St. in Waukegan. A Lake County Sheriff's Deputy was hurt in the struggle to capture escapee.
Following a guilty verdict on drug charges, a Zion man attempted to escape from the Lake County courtroom on Nov. 29, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. On Nov. 29, at 4:15 p.m. Keevan Fullwiley, 35, of the 2300 Block of 33rd St in Zion was found guilty in courtroom C220 by a jury on the charges of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Possession with Intent to Deliver Cannabis, according to the news release. Following the verdict, Judge Christopher Stride ordered the defendant to be taken in to custody by the Lake County Sheriff.
