After 0-3 start, Deerfield takes Central Suburban League North Crown. With the season over for a majority of the North Shore's football teams, Patch hands out some awards after another exciting regular season.
As quickly as the regular season started back in late August, it came to an end just before Halloween. With some of Patch’s North Shore teams competing in the playoffs and the others getting a head start on off-season conditioning, we’re going to hand out awards in our recap of the 2011 regular season. It was another great one. Surprise Team: Deerfield (6-3) The Warriors captured their first conference championship since 2003 and did it after dealing with injuries and a rocky start. Deerfield lost to Maine South and Homewood-Flossmoor by a combined score of 95-7 and looked dead in the water at 0-3. But the return of QB Brad Holway sparked the Warriors as they won six straight games to close out the regular season, including a 45-21 victory…

Patch sports reporter Ross Jacobson ranks the North Shore’s football teams. The regular season ends with seven North Shore teams making the playoffs. Highland Park (37 playoff points) was the only team that was playoff-eligible, but failed to qualify because of a weaker strength of schedule. Although Glenbrook North and Niles North had disappointing seasons, both finished off 2011 big wins. Loyola Academy finishes the regular season at No. 1, in our opinion, because of a statement victory over St. Rita for its conference championship.
