DUI, Drugs and more Samuel Kim, 24, of Wheeling was arrested May 1 for DUI drugs, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with one headlight, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police spotted Kim driving in the vicinity of Lake Cook Road and Corporate Drive with only one headlight illuminated and “extensive front end damage which appeared to be fresh,” according to the report. After stopping him, police observed his “reactions seemed low” and the “heavy masking odor of air freshener was coming from the vehicle.” After further investigation, police learned Kim had three arrests for charges including drugs, liquor and theft, according to the report. Possession of Cannabis Hector Uriastegui, 24, of Wheeling was arrested April 23 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police clocked Uriastegui driving 49 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Deerlake Roads, according to the report. After the stop, police smelled the odor of burnt cannabis on Uriastegui’s breath. Bottles with a leafy substance along with a glass pipe were found. He was released on bond and will appear on Lake County Court at 3 p.m. May 21 in Park City. Daniel Lyons, 27, and Patrick O’Reilly, 25, both of Chicago, were arrested Friday for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Bannockburn Police reports. Lyons was also cited for unsafe equipment and a defective windshield. Police spotted Lyons driving eastbound on Half Day Road in the vicinity of Telegraph Road and observed “dark tinted tail lights,” according to the report. After stopping Lyons, the driver, and O’Reilly, the passenger, police smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from both the car and them. A further search of the vehicle uncovered a green leafy substance believed to be cannabis as well as drug paraphernalia. Lyons and O’Reilly were released on bond and will appear in Lake County …

Possession of Cannabis Blair Shwachman, 19, of Northbrook was arrested March 19 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug equipment and speeding, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police clocked Shwachman driving 49 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone on Waukegan Road near Chestnut Street, according to the report. After stopping her, police smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from the vehicle. When asked for the second time by police, Shwachman admitted to having marijuana and drug equipment, according to the report. Driver’s License Infractions Mark Blades, 24, of Chicago was arrested Feb. 6 for driving with a suspended license and driving while using hand held cell phone, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police observed Blades with a cell phone in his hand near the intersection of Deerfield Road and Chestnut with the display illuminated and stopped him, according to the report. A further check indicated his driver’s license was suspended because of a previous DUI. He was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 P.M. March 5 in Park City. Thomas Rogers, 32, of Brookfield, WI, was arrested Dec. 27 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of drugs, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license suspended and driving while registration suspended, according to Bannockurn Police reports. Police discovered Rogers passed out in a car at 2000 Lakeside Drive in Bannockburn at 7:20 a.m., knocked on the window and smelled the odor of alcohol and cannabis when Rogers opened the door, according to the report. Michael Saydak, 23, of Deerfield was arrested Sept. 13 for possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police spotted Saydak driving southbound on Robert York Road south of Deerfield Road with only one headlight illuminated, according to the report. After stopping Saydak, police smelled the aroma of cannabis coming from the car. When police asked about the odor, Saydak said, “I do have marijuana (in the car),” according to the report. He also told the officer where to find it as well as letting police know there was a smoking pipe. Possession of Cannabis, Driving With Hand Held Device Charles Lipka, 48, of Skokie was arrested July 30 for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, using a hand held electronic device while driving and not having a valid driver’s license, according to Deerfield Police reports. An officer drove up alongside Lipka going eastbound on Lake Cook Road near Waukegan Road and observed him holding a cell phone next to his ear with his left hand, according to the report. After the officer activated his police car lights, Lipka continued to head east on Lake Cook Road coming to a stop on Avon Road and exited the car while still holding the phone to his ear. Fireworks, Cannabis, Public Intoxication William Breting, 45, of North Canton, OH, was arrested July 29 for possession of fireworks, possession of marijuana and public intoxication, according to Bannockburn Police reports. A police officer was patrolling the 2000 block of Lakeside Drive when the officer heard a loud explosion and saw a large plume of smoke coming from the front of the property near a large moving truck, according to the report.
