Scary Plans DHS Diving Future

Deerfield High School sophomore diver started thinking about the future right after fourth place finish at State Meet.

Minutes after the fourth-place medal was placed around his neck for his diving efforts at the State Meet Saturday in Winnetka, Deerfield High School’s Sean Scary was already pondering next year. A sophomore, Scary was thinking about improving his performance and returning in 2014 and 2105 to continue a Warrior tradition on the one-meter springboard. Being part of a line of Deerfield state champion is a hope he holds. Earlier: Scary Dives to Fourth in State Meet That tradition includes Olympian Christine Loukas who won four straight state titles from 2001 through 2004 and Erin Purdy, who took the championship in 2011. Warrior Boys Swimming Finishes 5th at Sectionals

Three Deerfield High School team members also took the top two spots in the diving competition to advance to the state finals, along with a third individual athlete.

The Deerfield High School boys swimming and diving team finished in fifth place at this weekend's sectional tournament at Glenbrook North High School.  The team had 136 points, behind winner Glenbrook North, which earned 185 points.  Sophmore Sean Scarry and Junior Ryan Church took the number one and two spots in the diving competition, earning them a trip to the state finals this weekend at New Trier High School. Also advancing in individual competition is Freshman Ryan Smith, who finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke.
