CJHS Wins Big off the Basketball Court

The Chicagoland Jewish High School basketball team's deep post-season run brought the entire community together and made winners of the Tigers off the court as well as on.

The Chicagoland Jewish High School basketball team won’t win a state trophy this year after falling to Newark, 67-64, during Saturday’s Class 1A Mooseheart sectional championship game. But they won over the Jewish community, garnered the attention of their classmates and alumni and crafted wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. IHSA Will Revise Finals Schedule for Jewish Team

If Chicagoland Jewish High School advances to the state semifinals, the Illinois High School Association will change the schedule so that the team can observe the Sabbath. Today's Sectional Title game is already moved to Saturday night.

Should they win the next two games, the state semifinal match, originally scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday in Peoria, will be rescheduled for Saturday evening. That way, the Deerfield team can observe the Jewish Sabbath, according to a press release issued by the Illinois High School Association. The Class 2A games would be played during the first …

CJHS Nips Mooseheart in Sectional, Makes History

Chicagoland Jewish High School basketball team advances to Sectional Final. Title game will be moved from Friday because of Jewish Sabbath.

Without a player over 6-3, Chicagoland Jewish High School’s basketball team stood tall Wednesday defeating a Mooseheart squad with a front line averaging nearly 6-10, 70-67, in the 1A Sectional semifinal at Mooseheart. The victory put the Tigers into a Sectional title game for the first time in the school’s history. They play Newark. Though the championship game is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Friday, that is the Jewish Sabbath, the team cannot play then and the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) will make a switch. Earlier: CJHS Wins Regional, Heads to Sectional The IHSA said before the Sectional began that it would reschedule the title game should the Tigers be in it, according to IHSA Communications Director Matt Troha.
