Some Deerfield merchants may be saving their best for Saturday, but some will have Black Friday offerings.
Deerfield shoppers wanting a Thanksgiving start to Black Friday had to leave the Village but anyone who wants an early beginning to Small Business Saturday can start today in Deerfield Square. Some merchants like Avenue Fashions are saving their best for Saturday and Sunday but others like B Friends, Footloose and Just Between Friends will start their holiday offerings when they open their doors today. The bargains will continue for shoppers in downtown Deerfield.
Though Deerfield merchants did not offer door busters for Small Business Saturday and Black Friday the weekend was a success. Two stores, Schwartz’s Intimate Boutique and Runway in the Deerfield Square Shopping Center, started sales before the holiday weekend which may have generated additional traffic. Like other local merchants in the area they were focused on their customers. “It was better than last year,” Runway salesperson Sheri Gellar of Highland Park said. “It must be that people are feeling better. They’re spending more money.” Some items are as much as 60 per cent off there. Small Business Saturday will give businesses a chance to do what they do best, serve their customers.
For local entrepreneurs like Larry Rosen of Footloose and Sandy Panuce ofAvenue Fashions the focus of Small Business Saturday has a familiar rung. They will concentrate on their customers like they always do. Both Avenue Fashions and Footloose will be operate their normal hours today and Saturday. Footloose is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days while Avenue Fashions begins selling to customers at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. “Small Business Saturday is the same as Black Friday to us,” Rosen said. “It’s a whole weekend.” He has made sure his store is well stocked with the company’s staples, boots, shoes and clothing. “We made sure we have all of our best sellers in stock.” Rosen took care three to four weeks ago to make sure he had…
