Driver’s License Infractions Merbil Mancilla, 39, of Wheeling was arrested May 6 for driving without a valid license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured motor vehicle, according to Deerfield Police reports. Mancilla was involved in a collision in the vicinity of Deerfield Road and Jonquil Terrace, according to the report. While investigating the crash, police learned she did not have a license. She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 1:30 p.m. June 4 in Park City. Criminal Damage to Property Profanity was scratched into a car parked outside a residence in the 1100 block of Elmwood on May 11, according to Deerfield police reports. Theft Renee Redmond, 54, of Evanston was arrested April 26 for theft, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police were called to Whole Foods by security personnel after observing Redmond walk out of the store with four items in her purse. She “admitted (to police) to stealing from whole foods.” She was released on bond and will appear in Lake County Court at 3:30 p.m. June 4. Vandalism “Indiscernible graffiti” was sprayed on a half wall inside the skate bowl at Jewett Park May 1, according to Deerfield Police reports. After responding to a report, police also found a 12-ounce can of spray paint. Theft/Vandalism A bank owned foreclosed home in the 800 block of Brookside was vandalized and items removed April 22, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police were called to the house by the property manager of the bank which owns the building to investigate missing or damaged items, according to the report. Vent covers, cover plates, electrical outlets, light switches, toilets, shower hardware, shower plumbing, trim, molding, interior and closet doors, a Jacuzzi tub, light fixtures, bathroom mirrors, vanity sinks, exterior HVAC units were missing and the kitchen was stripped. Fight on Basketball Court A “large fight” broke out on “the basketball court” in the 400 block of Lake Cook Road April 12, according to Deerfield Police reports. Though police were called, witnesses refused to tell the police what happened and a victim refused to provide his name or the name of the person who struck him, according to the report. Two Highwood men were arrested Feb. 14 for burglary and theft from Deerfield’s Chipotle Restaurant after suspicious behavior in the Northbrook Court parking lot tipped off Northbrook Police, according to a news release from the Deerfield Police Department. Eguardo Maisonet, 27, an employee of the eatery, and Roberto Conales, 20, a former worker there, were spotted in a car in the Northbrook Court parking lot after hours, according to the release. Unlawful Delivery of Alcohol to a Minor Brian Livingston, 25, of Skokie was arrested March 6 for unlawful delivery of alcohol to a minor, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police first observed Livingston and an 18-year-old female outside Livingston’s vehicle in the 900 block of Westcliff Lane, according to the report. The female appeared intoxicated to the police. Livingston first told police the female—he is her tennis instructor--texted him she was at a party, was drunk, was walking home and was lost, according to the report. He came to get her. DUI Floriberto Martinez-Ramirez, 24, of Highwood was arrested Jan. 21 for driving under the influence of alcohol, use of unsafe tires, no valid driver’s license and driving without insurance, according to Deerfield Police reports. Police spotted Martinez-Ramirez driving in the vicinity of Lake Cook and Wilmot Roads with a “dust cloud” coming out of the vehicle, according to the report. After he drove “in a circular motion known as a donut” in a parking lot near the intersection, police stopped him discovering no tire on one of the front wheels. He was driving on the rim. Burglary A Deerfield resident returned to a Timber Hill home Saturday to find a ransacked bedroom, according to Deerfield Police reports. Leaving the house earlier, the homeowner returned to notice a door ajar and a patio door unlocked before going to the bedroom to find it ransacked, according to the report. The victim then called police. Jewelry, electronic equipment and other items were missing, according to the report. Police determined the burglar entered through a basement window and left through the patio door. Car Burglaries Seven automobile burglaries to unlocked cars took place between 7 p.m. Dec. 24 and 12:22 p.m. Dec. 26 throughout Deerfield, according to Deerfield Police reports. No arrests were reported. Though most of the occurrences happened on Christmas Day, they were all reported a day after or later, according to the report. The time windows describe the time the victims last left their car and the time they discovered the break in. Two of the burglaries took place on Country Lane, one on Marcie Court, one on Waukegan Road, one on Hackberry Road, one on Wayne Avenue and one Wincanton Drive, according to the report.
