Trader Joe's Recalls Nearly 5,000 Pounds of Chicken

The national grocery store chain is pulling Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice off the shelves over a Listeria risk.

Trader Joe's has announced a recall of about 4,865 pounds of its frozen dish, Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice, over concerns the item might be contaminated with Listeria, the Huffington Post reports.  According to the L.A. Times, the chicken dish was produced at the Canadian company Aliya's, which issued the voluntary recall.   Though it seems seems the chicken did not reach Illinois, the recalled item was sold across the United States, in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Virginia and Washington D.C., according to CNN. Peanut Butter Recall Expands to Whole Foods, Target

The voluntary recall of salmonella-contaminated peanut and almond butter now includes more than 70 products.

Better check your butter—nut butter, that is. The voluntary recall of salmonella-tainted peanut and almond butter has expanded beyond Trader Joe’s stores to include more than 70 products sold nationwide including Whole Foods. Stores that carry products named in the recall include Target, Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, GNC and Meijer. The almond and peanut butters were manufactured between May 1 and Sept. 24. Thirty people across 19 states have reported salmonella food poisoning that was later linked to the contaminated nut butters, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Glenview, Northbrook Trader Joe's Recall Peanut Butter Over Salmonella Concerns

Amidst a nation-wide recall on more than 100 products, the North Shore's branches of the grocery store chain are offering refunds to customers who recently bought the items.

Trader Joe’s corporate officials say they are acting “out of an abundance of caution” and ordering the recall of several house brand nut butter products over salmonella concerns. “Trader Joe’s Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter” should not be eaten, the Monrovia-based specialty grocery chain said. “We have no confirmed information that suggests this peanut butter is unsafe to eat,” the company stated.
