Mayor: Carson’s Should Have Known Better

Restaurant chain went through the process six years ago and understood the regulations.

Carson’s Restaurant should have had an inkling the sign it installed over the summer to replace a damaged one would cause a problem with Deerfield officials. The Village Board of Trustees made that clear Monday when it unanimously denied Carson’s appeal for an exception to the language requirements of the ordinance becauae the restaurant chain ignored the rules and had a short memory. Village Board Rebukes Carson’ Sign Violation

Police officers promoted and Deerfield Road work coming this week.

Carson’s got a strong rebuke from Mayor Harriet Rosenthal and the Village Board of Trustees Monday for replacing a sign in front of its restaurant on Waukegan Road in violation of Deerfield’s ordinance and ignoring the regulatory process. After the Appearance Review Commission retroactively denied the request, the Board unanimously denied Carson’s appeal at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday. The crux of the issue was excessive language on the sign. After Carson’s installed the sign, the Village sent letters On July 11 and again on August 14 asking it be removed. When the company failed to take action, the Appearance Review Commission ruled the sign was in violation of the ordinance on Sept. 24 and Carson’s appealed. The sign …

Restaurants Offer Super Bowl Catering
