Deerfield Elementary School to Host Spelling Bee Sectionals
South Park Elementary School in Deerfield will host one of the sectional competitions for the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
A sectional competition for the Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday, Feb. 27 at South Park Elementary School in Deerfield. Students from 125 public and non-public schools in Lake County will participate Feb. 25, 27 and 28 in three spelling bee sectional contests co-sponsored by the Lake County Regional Office of Education and the Jelly Belly Candy Company. Four finalists from each sectional will then compete in the Lake County Final Spelling Bee at the College of Lake County on March 20. One final winner will Win a trip to Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. to compete May 26 through June l.
