Police Blotter: Man Balks at Cab Fare, Hits Driver and More

Battery, Theft for Services Nicholas Hergott, 34, of Riverwoods was arrested Jan. 6 for battery and theft of services after complaining about cab fare and hitting the driver, according to Deerfield Police Reports. Hergott hailed the taxi cab at the corner of Southport and Altgeld Avenues in Chicago to take him home to Riverwoods, according to the report. After telling the driver to take him to Deerfield, he fell asleep. After reaching the intersection of Deerfield and Waukegan Roads, the driver woke Hergott to get further directions, according to the report. As the cab passed Greenwood Avenue on Waukegan Road, the driver again woke Hergott, who asked to exit the cab there. When the driver asked for the fare of $76.45, Hergott said, “So…
