Deerfield Grad Uses Talk Show to Entertain and Inspire

The Scott Emo Show sheds light on real people who have real stories overcoming significant challenges, according to the show's website.

You may not have heard of North Shore native Scott “Emo” Emalfarb, but live tapings of his talk show, in which he interviews people on the streets of Chicago about overcoming life's challenges, have been selling out.

Emalfarb, a 2000 graduate of Deerfield High School who was born in Evanston, told the Deerfield Review that he got the idea for "The Scott Emo Show" after his mother died unexpectedly and his career had bottomed out.

"I'm always seeking to find meaning and purpose in my work and this show is my life's calling," said Emalfarb in his bio at www.thescottemoshow.com.

The next live taping will be at 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 28 at Stage 773 (1225 w. Belmont. The show donates ticket proceeds to charity.
