Fees for Deerfield Students Show Wide Range

Deerfield High School students can pay as little as $376 and as much as $1,770. Variation is similar for District 109 while Holy Cross and Chicagoland Jewish High School show less range.

Fees from as little $130 per student to as much as $1,750 are required of students in Deerfield’s schools this year.

Some of the fees are optional while others only apply to specific groups of students like graduating high school seniors, 15-year-olds learning to drive or those studying a musical instrument.

At Deerfield High School, fees could be as little as $376 and go up to $1,770. According to information provided on the Township High School District 113 website, students will pay between $350 and $500 for books and materials depending on classes selected.

Besides books and materials, all students are required to pay $13 for a planner and the same amount for physical education.

Optional or grade only costs are an activity fee ($140), bus transportation ($200 per semester), cap and gown fee ($38, seniors only), gym uniform rental ($18), heart rate monitor ($15, new students only), Driver’s Education lab fee ($220), physical education handbook ($10, freshmen only) and student parking ($340).

For Deerfield Public Schools District 109 families, the only mandatory fee is $130 for books and materials as well as an additional $65 for fifth graders taking outdoor education, according to information on the District website.

Bus transportation is free for students living more than 1.5 miles from school and $538 for everyone else. Parents who want their children to have milk every day must pay $55. Students participating in instrumental music pay $299.

Parents who need a payment plan or are experiencing a financial hardship can discuss their situation with appropriate district officials, according to the website.

At Holy Cross School, the fees have less range. Mandatory fees for everyone are $388 while  required grade level fees can be as little as $250 for pre-kindergarten and as much as $300 for fifth through eighth graders. There is also a $125 graduation charge for eighth graders while milk is optional for $22 for the term.

At Chicagoland Jewish High School, all students must $850 for book and activities. Seniors pay a $425 charge for graduation while incoming students are responsible for a $150 registration payment.
