Blackhawks’ Success Helps Business at Trax

As the Chicago Blackhawks keep winning Deerfield’s Trax Tavern & Grill is racking up its own kind of victories.

As an official bar of the team that has had autograph sessions with people like hockey legend Bobby Hull during games, business has always picked up on game nights. The team’ success this year has had added impact.

“It’s a lot better than it was last year,” Trax Manager Robby Cohn said. “We keep investing in it and it has paid off,” he added referring to the benefits the establishment gets for the fee it pay to the Hawks. “They talk about us on TV. It gives us a lift.”

Hockey will be sharing the stage with the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament for the next three weeks starting today. That will not be a problem with multiple screens showing a variety of events. Along with the Blackhawks, an ESPN basketball event is scheduled.

Trax has gone out of its way to make sure the sports fan can enjoy contests while eating, drinking or both. Every booth has an individual 18-inch television and large screen TV’s adorn both the dining room and bar.

“Wherever you sit you can see a TV,” Cohn said. Hockey and basketball fans will have no problem coexisting. There are 14 channels available on the individual sets at the booths and an array of games on the large sets.

Should the Blackhawks return to the Stanley Cup finals this year how good will it be for Trax? “You couldn’t find a seat (then),” Cohn said.
